Daktanol 2 % is a gel for use for mouth. It is used to treat and prevent infections of the mouth,throat, stomach and gut such as bacterial and fungal infections. It is used in children aged 4 months and more.

Daktanol 2 % is an oral gel that contains the active ingredient miconazole an antifungal drug. Miconazole works by destroying fungus and bacteria that may be present. It treats and prevent fungal and bacterial infections of the mouth, throat, stomach and gut. It is suitable for use in adults and children aged 4 months and more.

For oral use only.
How to apply the gel:
In the mouth and throat infections keep the gel in the mouth as long as possible and only after you may swallow it. If the infections is localized just in the mouth apply a small amount of gel directly to the affected area with a clean finger.
If you wearing a denture, remove it at bedtime spread the gel over the denture and leave on coated overnight.
Dosage:
Mouth and throat infections:
Adults and children over 2 years of age: 2.5 ml of gel (half a teaspoonful) four times a day after meal.
Infants aged 4 to 24 months: 1.25 ml of gel (1/4 teaspoonful) four times a day after meals. Each dose should be divided into smaller portions.
Infections of stomach and gut: Adults , children and infants aged over 4 months: 20 mg per kilogram body weight per day , in four divided doses.
The total daily dose should not exceed 10 ml gel four times a day.

DO NOT take Daktanol oral gel:
This medicine is not intended for use in infants under 4 months of age because of the risk of choking.
Precautions:
Take special care with Daktanol oral gel.
The gel is sticky and may stay in the mouth for as long as possible. It is very important to be cautious when applying the gel to a young child or infant as the gel may get deep in the throat and causes choking. Always apply the gel at the front of the mouth.
If you are taking anti-clotting medicines or Phenytoin (a medicine for epilepsy), your doctor may ask to check the level of the medicines in your blood by testing your blood.

Other ingredients: Carbomer 934 P, Saccharin Sodium, Disodium edetate, Benzoic acid ( E 210) , Glycerol, Trolamine, Ethanol 96 % v/v, Orange Flavour 05096, Water purified.
