How to care for skin and hair after the holidays

It is not just your emotional state, that is a little sad, when you return from vacation.

It is not just your emotional state, that is a little sad, when you return from vacation. As you prepare to go to work you may notice brown spots, fine lines, or even small acne on your skin. Even hair gets damaged from the holidays! They become more fragile, break easily, and begin to fall while we brush them. At this point we think you should start seeing the glass half full and remember that you will finally be reunited with all your skin and hair care products, that you left home, not to overload the suitcases. Our team of pharmacists have compiled a series of tips to restore your skin and hair freshness, health, and beauty. Now it’s your skin and hair's turn to go on a nice vacation!

The first and most important thing we can do is to get back to our routine. As boring as it may sound, a healthy body loves a good routine. Adjust your bedtime, start to schedule your meal, increase your water intake, and resume an active lifestyle by engaging into sports. We believe that self-care starts from the inside. It is important that as you restore balance within the body, you help the process by selecting the right products for your skin and hair.

Choose a gentle cleanser for your face and body to cleanse the skin without upsetting the pH balance. If you have acne that are caused from the beach, you can choose a cleanser formulated with Salicylic acid to clean the skin and get deep inside the pores.

Use a cream specially formulated for the thin skin around the eyes. Choose a product containing hyaluronic acid and antioxidants and apply it on damp skin. It will help with dark circles, tightening and hydrating the skin around the eyes, without irritating them.

If you have acne prone skin, choose a spot treatment to soothe the spots, while you sleep. We suggest an exfoliating product, which may be with BHA (Salicylic acid) to clean pores in depth. Do not forget sunscreen when treating the skin with active ingredients!

If your skin looks wrinkled and have brown spots after a vacation use an AHA (Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Glycolic Acid, or Citric Acid) to speed up skin cell turnover. Do not forget sunscreen while treating the skin with active ingredients!

Select a nourishing and moisturizing serum. Choose a serum with Hyaluronic Acid, apply it on damp skin and allow it to absorb the water left on your skin. We would also suggest a vitamin C serum to neutralize the appearance of your skin. A moisturizing serum will nourish and tighten your skin. Apply your moisturizer and don’t worry anymore! It will soothe the redness of your skin and the areas that are staring to peel.

If you give so much love to your face, then you should give a little love to your body as well! Keep your body well hydrated after showering with a lotion, formulated with nourishing oils and you will forget about the sunburn! This does not mean that you should neglect the use of SPF in exposed areas, because the sun is harmful all year round!

If you feel that your feet and toes are carrying the burden of long walks on the beach, heavy workouts, or outdoor hikes, give them a reboot. Use a specially formulated exfoliator for the feet, which strips them of old damaged and cracked skin and coats them with shiny, supple, and soft skin.

Do Not Forget your Hair! It is said that hair is half one’s beauty! Sea salt, pool chlorine, sun heat and wet buns make your hair brittle and easily breakable. Once you get back from vacation you should cut the burnt ends and get back to your hair and scalp care routine. Choose a sulfate-free foaming shampoo, a conditioner for brittle hair and a hair oil for a radiant shine.
